Dr Zia Ud-Din
BDS MPhil (Orth) MFDS RCS (Edin) MOrthRCS (Edin)
Zia has a keen interest in Facial Aesthetics and endeavours to achieve ideal facial balance and proportions with his bespoke treatments- whether it be reducing a gummy smile or making a smile wider and more beautiful whilst providing ideal lip support…
A specialist orthodontist routinely works alongside Facial Surgeons to advise the correct movements necessary to achieve the ideal aesthetic outcome and specialist orthodontists are trained specifically in this field. Zia has completed two years of Surgical training in Maxillo Facial Surgery and has routinely performed procedures as extensive as repairing fractured cheekbones and jaws and and was the treating speciality “doctor on call” for all facial injuries and especially lacerations of the face.
Zia understands the increasing need for invisible/hidden brace systems for his patients and is a registered provider of INVISALIGN aligners and the INCOGNITO and WiN hidden ‘lingual brace’ systems
This allows him to be able to make the most informed decision when providing treatment for children or adults. Zia believes that orthodontic treatment should only ever be done once and holds a strong philosophy of retention to ensure his patients keep their lovely straight smile forever.
Zia graduated from the University of Manchester in 2001. He then undertook several training posts including Oral Maxillo-Facial Surgery and Paediatric Dentistry, which provide a fantastic grounding to become a Specialist Orthodontist. During this time he obtained his Membership in the Faculty of Dental Surgery from Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh.
He undertook his Specialist training in Orthodontics at Birmingham Dental Hospital and was awarded a Masters in Philosophy and obtained his Membership in Orthodontics from the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh. He subsequently gained entry onto the General Dental Councils Specialist list for orthodontics.
As a further recognition of his clinical expertise he was awarded a highly prestigious British Orthodontic Society Prize for excellence of his treated cases.
Away from work he’s kept busy with his young family and, when they let him – he plays at restoring classic cars!

Practice Manager /Treatment Co-ordinator
I passed my qualification as a National British Dental Surgery Assistant in Liverpool, 1987. In 1993 I acquired my Dental Nurses Radiography in Wrexham. Since then I have attended Manchester Dental University and taken my post graduate qualification in Orthodontic Nursing. Further to these qualifications, I have attended courses to allow me to work along side patients, giving me the ability to assist with every step of patient journey, and become their first and direct line of contact.
Escaped to the country from Liverpool and am now living in Anglesey.
I Work part time on reception in Elmhurst, the rest of my time is taken up with my animals and my fondness to bake and create.
I have worked at the practice for the last 36 years doing administration and reception work. I enjoy meeting people and enjoy experiencing the patient satisfaction at the end of their treatment. I have three children and seven grandchildren who keep me busy outside my working hours.
I Joined the ‘Elmhurst Team’ in April 2014. I attained my National British Dental Surgery Assistant’s Qualification in 1991. Having had a break from dental nursing to have a family, I have now returned and progressing through my City and Guilds Diploma in Dental Nursing. From there I would like to further my qualifications by sitting my ‘Radiography for Dental Nurses’ qualification.
I have worked at Elmhurst now since July 2014. I trained as a Dental Nurse at the Dental Hospital in Birmingham, graduating in July 2010. I then worked in General Practice for 1 year, then joined Dentalign in Kidderminster, where I stayed for just over two years. I moved to North Wales, in October 2013, after just getting married, so relocated to the Dentalign Group in Colwyn Bay until a job became available here at Elmhurst.
A new member of the team. Started employment in February this year at Elmhurst, I enjoy this position very much. After being out of Dental Nursing for quite some years, I have decided that this is actually what I want to do. I never did get my training completed first time around. This time I am determined to gain my qualification. To see the finished result when the braces are removed, is so rewarding, it makes so many people smile.
The latest member of the Elmhurst team. Only recently started here. I have my National Diploma in Dental Nursing, I have recently sat my ‘Orthodontic Nursing’ exam and have done the course for impression taking. I am now about to undertake the ‘Radiography for Dental Nurses’ course. My ultimate aim is to qualify as an ‘Orthodontic Therapist’. To now be able to work in the ‘orthodontic environment’ will give me knowledge and experience in the field in which I enjoy working.
I’m a qualified dental nurse and have worked in two different General Dental Practices before coming here to Elmhurst. I am one of the latest members of the team and started here in September 2015.
The Elmhurst Orthodontic Clinic is conveniently located in the city of Bangor in North Wales. The entire practice recently underwent an extensive refurbishment and refit programme to deliver a modern, warm and inviting environment, created for your complete comfort and relaxation.
